Terms & Conditions – Northern Lights Language Academy Enrollment & Payment Monthly tuition is billed in advance. Enrollment is confirmed once payment is received. Free Trial Lesson The introductory trial lesson is free and does not obligate enrollment. Refund Policy Monthly tuition is non-refundable once the month has begun. If a class must be canceled by the school, a make-up class or credit will be provided. Attendance & Make-Up Classes Missed classes due to student absence are not guaranteed a make-up. In cases of teacher absence, a make-up class will be scheduled. Class Placement Class placement is determined by age, level, and availability, and may be adjusted to ensure the best learning experience. Online Learning All classes are conducted online via Zoom. Parents are responsible for ensuring appropriate technology and supervision. Code of Conduct Respectful behavior is expected from all students. The school reserves the right to remove a student from a class if behavior significantly disrupts learning. Our classes are grouped by age to make learning comfortable and developmentally appropriate. Please choose your child’s class based on their age:     •    Ages 5–8 → Early Elementary English Class (focus: phonics, reading foundations, confidence speaking, simple sentences)     •    Ages 9–12 → Upper Elementary English Class (focus: reading fluency, conversation skills, paragraph writing, vocabulary building) If your child is between levels or you’re still unsure, simply book a Free Trial Lesson. We will observe your child gently during the trial and recommend the best placement.

No — we support shy learners and gently encourage natural speaking over time. Lesson will include many visual elements, repetition and routine structures which will encourage young learners and help them to feel more comfortable over time.

You can register and pay securely on our website through our monthly plan. Payments will continue monthly until you cancel. You may cancel after any month. Refunds will not be issued for missed classes.

Students will need a computer, tablet or phone which can stream a Zoom call. Children are asked to have a notebook and pen in front of them for simple classwork and language games.

After registering or booking a trial lesson, you'll receive an email with your Zoom link and instructions.

We teach all classes on Zoom, a reliable and easy-to-use video platform. You don’t need an account—just click the class link we send you, and your child can join instantly from any device.

Yes. Our lessons focus on speaking and communication. Children will speak English throughout the class in a supportive, friendly environment. We always correct gently and encourage confidence, not perfection.

No specific level is required. We place children by age, not by level.     •    Ages 5–8 join our Younger Learners Class     •    Ages 9–12 join our Elementary Learners Class Both classes are mixed-level, and we adjust instruction to fit each child’s ability.

We currently offer:     •    Ages 5–8: 30-minute classes, three days per week     •    Ages 9–12: 30-minute classes, three days per week Class times are designed to align with evening hours in Korea and morning hours in Canada.

Maximum 5 children per class. This ensures every child gets speaking time, personalized feedback, and a close relationship with their Canadian teacher.

Yes. All classes are taught by Eva Petruzziello, an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with over 15 years of teaching experience and previous ESL experience in Japan.

Yes. Parents receive a monthly progress report including:     •    Speaking improvements     •    Reading and vocabulary skills     •    Confidence and participation     •    Goals for the next month We also respond quickly to any questions through email.
